Every so often, when we go for a nature or landscape photo shoot, we get more than we expected.  Sometimes, there is a special treat in store for us.  This was one of those times and we made sure to take advantage of it while we could.  Check out my new landscape photos.

We had an amazing vista in front of us with a farm field and cloudscape.  The light was getting on towards sunset so it was gorgeous.  It was a perfect landscape photo in the making.  I noticed that I was not the only person who wanted to take advantage of the scene.  There was another photographer there who was taking photos of a different angle of the field.  It was refreshing to know that I had a subject worth shooting but there was no time to make friends.  I had landscape photos to take.

I was making sure that I got all kinds of different angles on the farm equipment from top to bottom and from left to right.  The cold wind was whipping up so I didn’t know how long the clouds would stay in place.  I was working hard and fast to make sure that I captured what I wanted to before the light failed or the clouds blew away.

After I got what I wanted from the farm field, I turned to some local flowers.  I couldn’t resist trying some shots of some of the bright orange tulips.

I found myself drawn to the mottled color of the tulips with the yellow highlights.  The shine on this particular bloom is an especially nice touch with this shot.  I made sure to isolate it from the background with a nice shallow depth of field.  The bokeh is just right for this beautiful flower.

The surprise came flying in when we were ready to pack up and leave.  By flying in, I do mean literally flying in.  A duck discovered a fountain pool nearby and decided that it was the perfect location to drop in for a swim.

I decided that this was too good of an opportunity to pass up so the photo shoot went on longer than planned.  I started taking photos of the duck swimming in circles around the pool.  Also, I took lots of photos so that I could maximize my chances of getting a usable shot of the mallard duck.  However, I don’t think that he appreciated being the subject of my photos.  He really didn’t like us constantly getting him to move closer to me.

The funny element of the story is that we almost interrupted someone’s proposal for the duck pictures.  Some friends of the boy came to set things up and were constantly worried that the couple would come up and we would spoil things.  We didn’t interrupt things because they hadn’t arrived by the time we left.
