It’s been raining daily around here for a while. We call it ‘monsoon season.’ These rainstorms are unpredictable. They can happen at any time of day. If we’re lucky, the sun will break through and a monsoon rainbow appears in the sky. I had such an opportunity appear recently. Here’s the story of how I captured this landscape photo.
I was working in my shop one day when I looked out the window and across the neighboring buildings across the street. That’s where I saw it. The monsoon rainbow appeared brilliantly in the sky above me. I knew I had to act so I went for my camera.
I wanted an unrestricted view of the rainbow against the mountains so I hurried up the street. You never know when the rainbow will fade away so time was of the essence. I started working on what kind of framing I wanted for the shot as I ran along the road. Thankfully, I could think fast and the rainbow lasted long enough.

I stopped several times for multiple attempts at the rainbow. Then, I kept going in my search for the perfect angle and framing for the rainbow in front of me. The rainbow was fading when I finally found the right place to stand for my photo. So, I snapped away at my shutter before the rainbow completely faded. Still, I walked back home with this photo in my camera.
