Hello landscape photography fans. It’s time for some good news again. Regulars around here know what this means. It means that another of my landscape photos received an award. This particular photo is a bit different for me. I usually show off the beauty in the world around me. This time, I decided to show off the desolation left behind by an old fire and that photo just received the award. So, keep reading to learn more about this photo and its new award.

Here comes the traditional part. I’m sharing what the announcement email contained. It was short and to-the-point.

Good stuff cramerimaging,

Your photo has been selected to receive an award!

Your photo really got noticed in a crowd of amazing submissions, and that’s an achievement to be proud of.

As usual, I clicked on the included link. Though, because of the fact that the email listed an award directly from a contest, I didn’t expect an explanation page like usual. Instead, these awards take me straight to my photo on Viewbug’s website where they list the award in an awards column.

Sometimes I need to search for the new award on the list of already granted awards. Not this time. This award is the first which this dead forest fire area received. I found the following award listed.

Contender in PHOTOGRAHY AWARDS 2024

Now, it’s time for me to show off the photo which I’ve been talking about. So, here it is.

Fine art landscape photograph of desolation and dead evergreen trees against stormy skies in Bryce Canyon National Park Utah by Audrey Cramer Photography

This is not the first “contender” award I’ve received. However, I still don’t know what it’s supposed to mean. It doesn’t appear to be a finalist in the competition. So, I still wait for a proper explanation of what this award means. I’ll tell you though, this award for such desolation really caught me by surprise.

This photo is a portion of Bryce Canyon National Park which most people pass right through. It’s obviously far from the prettiest spot in the park. You can see the old scars of a fire from years ago. However, the underbrush is starting to grow back. In time, the trees will return. The cloudy skies really added to that desolate feel.

So, now it’s your turn. What do you think of this photo of desolation and its new award? Do you like it? Do you hate it? Does it deserve the award it just received? Please leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
