How to Find Landscape Photography Locations

  • 5 mins read

Are you interested in landscape photography?  It’s a great choice of subject matter.  However, it does require one thing.  You need landscape photography locations.  Landscape photography doesn’t work out without them.  So, your next question is probably about where you can find landscape photography locations.  It’s only natural.  So, that’s what we’re about to discuss here: where to find landscape photography locations.

When I started into landscape photography myself, I found I needed just such a list of locations.  The question became how to create such a list for myself.  It took time, but I figured out a few sources of information.  These sources should work out for you too.

1. Word of Mouth

The locals, including your neighbors, will know where good places are.  They often visit or hear about such places.  They’ll happily give you the knowledge you seek.  It may not be up to your standards, but such information is well worth investigating if nothing else.

2. Local Attractions

If you’ve lived in an area long enough, you know what the local attractions are.  Of, if you’re traveling, then you can learn about what the local attractions are.  Oftentimes, these local attractions end up being the kinds of landscape photography locations where you can take the photos you want.

3. Exploration

If you have the time and the interest, then you can seek out such locations yourself.  There’s nothing like personal exploration for discovering landscape photography locations.  You might succeed in finding places which others haven’t thought of.

4. Internet Search

If you need some quick information on where to find landscape photography locations, there’s few options better than a simple internet search.  Search engines will give you the information you seek if you know the right search terms.  You could also try reverse image searches for pictures of places.

5. Social Media Feeds

Make sure you choose social media platforms which feature images or videos as text won’t often help you.  Once you’ve chosen such a location, you can often use the caption, the hashtags, or the geotag to help you locate the spot.  Create a save folder where available for reference.

6. Travel Books, Magazines, and Brochures

Quite a bit of the printing industry is devoted to providing this kind of information to tourists.  You can easily acquire such to aid in your search.  These sources might be less specific than others, but they will point you in the right direction.

7. Travel Blogs

Internet searches might point you in this direction.  However, you can seek them out yourself.  Much like the printed works, blogs will give you the information you seek, if less specific than you might hope.  If you’re lucky, you’ll find tips to help you arrive at your chosen locations.
