Behind-the-Scenes with the Pleasant Valley Potato Project

  • 3 mins read

It’s time for another behind-the-scenes video.  This time, I’m sharing a quartet with you.  We’re going behind-the-scenes with a photography project I took on called the Pleasant Valley Potato Project.  You can learn a bit more about the experience of shooting several different farm fields from this account and these videos.

One day, I received a call from Ryan the marketer for the Pleasant Valley Potato coop.  He told me that they were redoing their website and needed new photos of the fields and products of all the coop members.  He also put me in contact with the website designer in order to gather all the information I could so I could deliver the kinds of landscape photos they wanted.  That was most helpful.

I started in on the project by photographing the farm fields, owned or rented, which each member of the coop was using.  Then, I moved on to photographing the fall harvest and even the processing plant.  The idea was to capture the life cycle of the potato from start to finish.  While I didn’t have the opportunity to capture the start, I certainly captured the middle and the end of the process.  I found it very informative to learn just how my food ends up on my plate.  Perhaps you would too.

Out of that project, I generated photos such as these.  You can see more of the Pleasant Valley Potato Project using this link.

While out in the fields, I managed to take 4 behind-the-scenes videos of my work on the Pleasant Valley Potato Project.  Each video comes from a the fields of a different coop family.  So, each member of the coop is represented.  Check them out.

If you would like to read up more about my experience on the Pleasant Valley Potato Project than this behind-the-scenes view gives, then please check out this article.  I never did end up starting the promised part 2.  Sadly, 2020 happened and the lock-down discouraged such activities from taking place.  Travel was frowned upon.  So, this was the completed project.

Now, I turn things over to you landscape photography fan.  What do you think of these behind-the-scenes takes on the Pleasant Valley Potatoes Project?  Do these videos add something to the collection for you?  Please leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
