Hot Air Balloon Contest Finalist

  • 3 mins read

Hello again photography fans.  It isn’t often that I have the opportunity to present news like this.  However, it has come again.  Another photo of mine received an award.  This time, it’s not a landscape photo however.  Indeed, this award goes to a hot air balloon photo which I entered into a photography contest.  Keep reading to learn more about this photo and its new award.

Viewbug sent me another email announcing the new award.  Here’s what the email contained.

Congratulations : )

Hi cramerimaging,

Your photo is a finalist in the Blue Hues Photo Contest.

It is short, sweet, and to the point.  My hot air balloon photo is a contest finalist.  I don’t receive many of these notifications.  However, I love every instance.  Here’s the photo which they refer to.

Cramer Imaging's fine art photograph of a blue hot air balloon taking flight in Panguitch Utah with a blue morning sky with contrail

This photography contest is centered around the color blue in subject matter.  I pondered my portfolio and couldn’t come up with a better photo than this blue hot air balloon against an empty blue sky with a slight contrail in the corner.  After all, it meets the following requirements well.

📷 Let’s see how you catch the color blue in your own cool, creative way!  Show us your unique takes and original ideas – we want to see how you see blue in your everyday world!

🔵 For this blue-color photo contest, we invite you to share your best shots showcasing the color blue as the main aspect of the composition.  The color blue can be found in various types of objects; from clothes, makeup, and accessories to animals, landscapes, and architecture.

As far as how this photo came to be, I took it during the 2018 Panguitch Balloonfest.  I haven’t seen this balloon in the air since.  Perhaps the balloon team hasn’t returned.  Or, perhaps they retired it.  Either way, another opportunity to photograph it probably won’t come as it hasn’t yet.

My spouse pointed out the possibility of shooting a photo containing evidence of 2 different modes of air travel in 1 photo.  I didn’t initially think much of it.  However, digital photos really don’t cost anything, so I gave it a shot.  Now, I’m glad I did.  This hot air balloon photo became a contest finalist.

Now, I turn things over to you.  What do you think of this photo and its new award?  Do you like it?  Do you hate it?  Does it deserve the award it received?  Please leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
